Yin Yoga: This practice focuses on the connective tissues in you body like your ligaments, tendons and bones. The majority of our nerve cells reside here in our deep connective tissues. The practice is all floor work that is slow and intentional to work deeper than the muscles typically warmed with yoga. The long holds are meant to realign and strengthen our ligaments and bones. Great for assisting with relief from symptoms of anxiety and depression.
The long holds in this practice promote deeper meditation with grounding physical sensations to assist with wandering minds. Increased body awareness and mindfulness are a natural part of this practice.
The compliment to the yin is the yang. Hatha practice is more active by nature and heats the muscles. Benefits include balance, muscle strength, flexibility, self awareness and grounding yourself.
Restorative Yoga: great for people with a high paced stressful lifestyle that don't often allow time for unwinding and put themselves last. Another type of yoga that focuses on letting go of stress and tension.
